Connecting sport, education, and regeneration
Iniciativas Regenerativas is an international collaborative research project that seeks to highlight, connect, and foster dialogue between initiatives working at the intersection of sport, education, health, and environmental care.
Through concrete experiences across different territories, the project explores how movement can be used as a tool for well-being, social cohesion, and the regeneration of the environments we inhabit.

Research rooted in local territories
33 organizations, 4 continents: multiple realities
The project is based on a survey conducted with 33 organizations across Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe that develop regenerative practices through sport, art, and environmental education.
Although the contexts are diverse, all of these initiatives share a common intention: to care for health, strengthen community ties, and reconnect with the local territory through situated practices.

The three pillars of the project
Make visible
Connect
Inspire and systematize
To give visibility to local initiatives that are often underdocumented, highlighting their practices, methodologies, and lessons emerging from work rooted in the territory.
To create spaces for exchange and dialogue between organizations in order to encourage the sharing of experiences, mutual support, and collective learning.
To identify shared learnings and transferable elements that can strengthen regenerative practices and enrich collective reflection.
These pillars take shape through a working methodology, a collaborative research process, and an international network of organizations.
Learning through practice
Iniciativas Regenerativas does not promote fixed models or universal solutions. Learning is built through practice, emerging from dialogue between local experiences and diverse contexts.
This approach is reflected both in the Toma 5 methodology used by Waves Lobitos and in the research process carried out with organizations across different territories.

Sharing knowledge, expanding impact
The project’s learnings are shared through a variety of open and accessible formats, designed to strengthen existing practices and support new processes:
-
research reports,
-
webinars and spaces for exchange,
-
audiovisual content and testimonials,
-
the Regenerative Surf Congress, as an in-person gathering space.
A project in motion
niciativas Regenerativas is an open and constantly evolving process.
It is aimed at organizations, educators, researchers, and field practitioners who wish to share practices, learn collectively, and strengthen regenerative initiatives through sport and movement.
